"I'm not so much the brain as the minstrel"

I ran across this 1995 Maclean's article I'd never seen before:

Townshend and Tommy in Toronto

I love that last bit about sliding down the bannister!

:D

Great interview!
Thanks Lucy.
It's sad reading about Karen though...

Yeah, I know Sue... :-(

Such is life, I guess.

Poignant too what he said about Cinci. You know, I STILL think about those poor people. Missing Wholigans.

everytime I have ever seen Pete regardless of temperature he has always been all layered up...
once in 1985 I asked him why and he said 'I'm always cold' so it figures he did not take off any layers for the photographer...

cool article Eternal Lucy...

Oh I think about Cincinnati a lot too.
I had tickets for that tour (sorry if I told this story before) - floor seats - my dad brought me to Providence at 4 am to stand in line for tickets - anyway, the mayor of Providence (Cianci) was up for re-election that year, so he thought it would be prudent to CANCEL the show!!!
It would have been my first Who concert - I was 16 (I think it was 1978?).
Anyway - I was BESIDE MYSELF but now, I think back and see how selfish I was - I should have been thinking more about the poor souls who died a horrible death (for NO reason).
So sad.
I am sure Pete thinks about them often.
My friend and I protested in Providence too - a bunch of people did. I have pictures of that day...I can scan them and post them - not sure how interesting they'll be LOL!

Best part was screaming: "FUCK YOU GIVE US THE WHO!" over and over!
Kids. Whaddyagonnado?

Sue -- what an interesting story. You really should blog it -- either here or on your blog. I'm sure the photos would be interesting too. (remember -- you said your Who concert photos were bad too -- but they were FANTASTIC.)

It would have been 1979.
